Embargo Notice – Out of Bounds Areas

On behalf of Orienteering Bay of Plenty (hosts of the Zespri Aims Games Orienteering 2024) we advise the following embargoes applying to competition areas.

An embargo is a restriction, which prevents athletes accessing a competition area prior to the competition taking place. Any athletes breaching these embargoes risks disqualification.

Sprint – Tuesday 10th September 2024

The area titled Tauranga Historic Village, outlined in pink on the map below, and which is bounded by Seventeenth Avenue in the South, Sixteenth Avenue in the North, Takitimu Drive / Kopurererua Valley in the West and Cameron Road in the East, is embargoed with the following restrictions, with immediate affect:

  • Because the event takes place in public areas people may need to access for legitimate reasons other than orienteering, general access is permitted to the embargoed areas until 5.00pm Sunday 8th September 2024. However, the use of maps, and route choice testing during the term of the embargo is not allowed at any time.

  • All competitors must use only the routes specified by the organisers to reach the Event Arena on the day of the competition (to be advised in the final bulletin).

Competitors are not allowed to re-enter the Sprint area after they have finished their race and before the last competitor has finished their race without the permission of the organiser.

Rogaine – Wednesday 11th September 2024

The area titled McLaren Falls Park, outlined in pink in the map below, including the areas south of Cherry Bay/Marshalls Animal Park entrance is embargoed with the following restrictions, with immediate effect.

  • Because the event takes place in public areas people may need to access for legitimate reasons other than orienteering, access to the embargoed areas is permitted until 5.00pm Monday 9th September 2024. However, the use of maps, and route choice testing during the term of the embargo is not allowed at any time.
  • After 5.00pm Monday 9th September 2024, access into the embargoed Rogaine area is strictly forbidden for all competitors and associates, until the competition is over.
  • All competitors must use only the routes specified by the organisers to reach the Event Arena on the day of the competition (to be advised in the final bulletin).

Competitors are not allowed to re-enter the competition area after they have finished their race and before the last competitor has finished their race without the permission of the organiser.
